Boyd Cycling’s budget-friendly Prologue Series wheelsets just got even friendlier.
In addition to its 28 and 44 mm carbon rim and disc Prologue wheelsets that launched in 2020, Boyd has expanded with two new alloy models it hopes will bridge the gap between price tag and performance.
The new models include the road Rouler Alloy Disc, and the Stumphouse Alloy MTB wheelsets. Compared to the MSRP $1,050 of the carbon Prologue Series wheels, the alloy options go for MSRP $425 to $450, making them a truly affordable option for riders who want to replace stock wheels or find a solid replacement after a crash.
The Rouleur rim weighs in at 460 grams and includes Skyuka hubs, Pillar TB2018 spokes, and brass nipples. Fully built, the wheel weighs 1760 grams. It’s fully tubeless compatible.
Specs:
- Spoke Count: 24 front, 28 rear
- Thru axle: 12 x 100 front, 12 x 142 rear
- Wheel size: 700c
Boyd said the Rouleur isn’t designed to be extremely fancy, rather, it’s an everyday workhorse that won’t let riders down.
For those who spend their time on singletrack, Boyd has released the Alloy Stumphouse MTB. The Stumphouse comes in 29 or 27.5 inch options and features a 30mm rim that is also tubeless compatible and comes in boost or non-boost spacing.
Boyd says the Stumphouse is design focused on durability and strength so riders can feel confident blasting off into the chunk. The Stumphouse includes Skyuba MTB hubs that come with tool-free service and interchanging among Hyperglide, Sram XS, and Shimano Microspline.
Specs:
- Spoke count: 32 front, 32 rear
- Thru axle: 15 x 100 front, 12 x 142 rear
- Wheel size: 27.5, 29
The Rouleur is available for MSRP $425. The Stumphouse costs $450.
