Brompton heads into 2026 with one of the company’s most significant engineering updates to date. The folding bike brand will switch to the e-Motiq drive system across its C, P, and G Lines of e-bikes.

They will also introduce an electrified T Line — titanium folding frames that will prove to be Brompton’s lightest folding bikes yet.

A Switch to the e-Motiq System

Alongside introducing a revamped line of folding e-bikes, Brompton will switch to a new drive system in the US market. The swap to the e-Motiq drive unit not only delivers more power but moves that power to the rear hub.

Brompton says putting the motor at the rear of the bike provides a better overall riding experience. The difference is in the feeling of being pushed rather than pulled forward, and provides a better sense of control. A motor on the rear hub rather than the front also takes stress off the front wheel.

The e-Motiq system also has adaptive intelligence built into the motor. During the first 100km of use, the drive unit learns the rider’s style and continues to refine itself over time. This smart assist delivers the right amount of power when it’s needed most on a commute, from a steep climb to stop-and-go traffic.

Brompton’s move to the e-Motiq rear hub motor means the new e-bike lineup delivers 250W of power and 24-30Nm of torque (depending on the model). The rear hub motor also features Brompton’s 4-speed derailleur. Bikes will be equipped with a detachable 345Wh battery, providing a range of up to 90 km.

The new system complies with UL2849 and EN15194 standards and includes a three-year warranty.

Brompton Titanium Goodness

As a part of the 2026 switch to the e-Motiq system, Brompton will also introduce an electrified T Line. In addition to the e-Motiq rear hub motor, the new Electric T Line’s frames will be titanium.

The new T Line will be Brompton’s lightest e-bikes yet. Without the detachable 345Wh battery, the bike weighs approximately 11.2kg (~24.7 lbs). With the battery installed, T Line bikes weigh roughly 14.1kg (31 lbs). This is over 10 lbs less than the current Electric G Line, which has already adopted the e-Motiq system.
