Brooks’ Scape bikepacking bag lineup grows to meet the needs of bigger adventures with three new packs and a toned-down new look for their existing range.

On the new bag front, that means two-thirds more storage in a longer Top Tube Bag, the welcome move to versatile direct mount bolt-on possibilities for the shorter version, and a larger partial Frame Bag to better optimize space inside bigger bikes. And in the end, black is still the new black…

It has only been a couple of years since Brooks adapted their more touring-oriented, classically-styled bicycle luggage into proper lightweight, waterproof rack-less bikepacking bags with the debut of their Scape range. And they already followed it up last fall with more options to carry more. Now new toptube & frame bags take hauling adventure gear another step forward…

Top Tube Bag Long

The new $70 Brooks Scape Top Tube Bag Long is the most significant addition, extending further down your toptube to store more gear close at hand, and 15% wider overall. The new bag is 16cm longer than the original Scape Top Tube Bag, adding 67% more internal storage capacity up to 1.5L now.

The new 37cm long x 11cm tall x 4.6cm wide bag features a few strap attachment points on the bottom – which line up with Scape frame bag straps for a clean setup – plus one loop to secure it around the steerer and a second to strap it back around the seatpost.

The longer heat-welded bag gets a 2- way waterproof zipper for easy access from both ends, padded base & sides to protect your gear, a cable port up front, reflective logos, and the option of Brooks Scape’s dark khaki ‘Mud‘ green or more subdued Black.

Top Tube Bag with Bolts

The other new toptube pack gets a less exciting, but informative name – Top Tube Bag with Bolts – in line with a trend shift of more bikes featuring toptube mounts these days. The 0.9L waterproof bag doesn’t really change, other than that it now includes the option for both strap-on and bolt-on mounting, with an internal stiffener to offer support and the same steerer strap to keep it secure.

The 21 x 11 x 4cm Top Tube Bag with Bolts sells for the same $70 as the long bag (which does not offer bolt-on mounting) and comes in the same Mud & Black colors.

Frame Bag Large

Like the bigger toptube bag, this longer Scape Frame Bag Large also hauls more gear, with 1/5 more internal storage volume now up to 3.5L. But more than just carrying more, the longer bag is meant to be a better fit for larger frames, so you don’t leave wasted space between the bag & seattube.

The Frame Bag Large is now 50cm long x 12cm tall x 6cm wide, making it just 4cm longer than the standard partial frame bag and 15g heavier at 215g now. But it will better fill out the horizontal space inside larger bikes, especially those with more traditional horizontal toptubes.

The longer bag has the same $115 retail price as the original, and also comes in Mud or Black.

Brooks Scape bikepacking bags – Availability & Black options

In addition to the three new bags, Brooks has also added Black color options to four more of their original bags that were previously Mud-only. Now bikepackers can pick up the $150 Handlebar Roll, $140 Full Frame Bag, $160 biggest Seat Bag, and $55 Feed Pouch bottle bag in black to mix-and-match for all their off-road touring needs. Now it seems only the rando-style Handlebar Case, commuter Handlebar Compact Bag, and mid-sized Saddle Roll Bag remain holdouts only in the more traditionally-inspired Mud color.
