Just a couple of weeks ago we saw some time trial updates to the Bora Ultra range by way of new wind cheating disc wheels, but while Campagnolo spends a lot of time working on making their wheels faster out on the road they also are doing so on the track. The Bora Ultra lineup has had a pretty long and successful career on the pro road circuit, so Campy’s R&D team looked to match that to their hour record winning Ghibli discs for an high performance setup across more track disciplines. In fact it seems like Campy sponsored pros had been matching the 80mm Bora Ultra rim to Record Pista hubs for quite some time, but now you too will be able to fly through the banked turns with the same performance….
Campy’s new Bora Ultra 80 Pista will be available only as a front wheel, intended to pair with the Ghibli disc out back for group track racing, including Points, Madison, Elimination, and Scratch racing. The new 705g wheel combines the full carbon Bora Ultra 80 rim with a carbon shell hub with aluminum flanges, modified to track spacing.
It uses the same Cult ceramic bearings that can be found in Campagnolo’s premium road hubs. The tubular-only track front wheel uses the same MoMag tech as the road-going Bora Ultra wheels that builds the wheel guiding the nipples into place with a magnet to leave the rim be free of spoke holes. That not only makes for a stiffer wheel overall, but gives a more consistent surface to glue up your fastest tires.
