Cane Creek’s splashy rim brakes return now in a brand new color jacket: “The Matador.”

If a matador uses a crimson cape and silver tools, and wears gold accents for flash — well, that’s what Cane Creek Matador eeBrakes do, too.

Along with their distinct visual signature, eeBrakes stand out among rim brake adherents for their power, adjustability, and pressure control.

The last eeBrake kit, called the El Platino 2, looked identical to The Matador in build. It came at a relatively lightweight 85.3 grams (front) and 83.7 grams (rear), the company claims. It fit rims from 19-28mm, with a 39-49mm reach. Specialty inclusions: tool-less caliper centering, a titanium barrel adjuster, and a center-aligned cable path for aero gains and evenly-distributed braking force.

Cane Creek sources aluminum, stainless, and titanium parts to put it together, and ships a set of carbon-compatible pad inserts with each set. eeBrakes work most optimally with Campagnolo, Shimano, or SRAM brake levers. And you can get each caliper in regular or direct mount.

The brand releases two eeBrake variants each year, sold exclusively in sets of two, while supplies last. The Matador drops today at $780 per set (no change from last year). Each kit will ship from Cane Creek’s Asheville, N.C. facility, starting in 2023.

Getting pretty bored of these.
I’d like to see a truly “aero” version of these, where the arms and body are shaped to airfoil profiles in some way or another.
Alternatively, a carbon fairing where a segment of it doubles as the spring, and happens to install just like the current spring…

Just giving another view point from a cyclist also named Greg. I like them, if they work well, they are light and they sell keep making them, keep changing the colors but most importantly Keep the rim brake alive!

I found them beautiful, coming from the aeronautic world, a small piece like that for a non-Pro rider is no issue at all. No need to be aero shaped, not possible to manufacture them in a more beautiful way. Congratulations Guy’s.please do not confuse my message, I love my disc brakes on my bikes, but those rims breaks at the end are disc breaks on a bigger disc the rim. I understand the differences gains a losses, but they are beautiful. I will put them on my rim brakes bike right away.
