Winter may be coming to an end for our Northern Hemisphere riders (but why is it snowing on us in Europe again, still!) but Canyon knows their Dude carbon fat bikes can be just as much fun in the coming mud as they are in the snow. So, for 2022 the Canyon Dude CF family grows, with a new lower pricepoint…
2022 Canyon Dude 27.5″ carbon fat bikes
Canyon calls their Dude, “the ultimate fat bike for riders who prefer extra-wide tires and the huge traction, control, and no-limits fun-factor they bring“. Fat bikes can really be fun year-round, and the carbon Dude CF is now a bit more accessible thanks to an additional lower build spec, with the same carbon frameset. Sure, you’ll sacrifice the creature comfort of a dropper – but do those even work in the extreme cold anyway… and that’s an easy upgrade down the line once you are convinced of the #fatlife.
Tech details
Technically not much has changed since Canyon gave the carbon Dude a 27.5″ wheel & geometry overhaul a year and a half ago, but it’s still a fairly unique bike with its adjustable chainstays.
Adjustable Geometry for Summer & Winter
By including a multi-position flip-chip at the rear axle, riders can pick from wide ranging chainstay length options from 439-455mm. Choose from short stays for summer trail riding or long for stability in the snow.
Or jump around to go from 26×4.8″ tires, the stock 27.5×3.8″ setup, or even 29×3.0″. You only need wheelsets built on the 12x197mm & 15x150mm fat bike hub standard.
2022 Canyon Dude CF – Pricing, option & availability
Three Dudes are available, two with rigid carbon forks and a third with a 120mm fork, all with 27.5″ wheels and 3.8″ tires (curiously swapped Schwalbe in America, Maxxis in Europe.)
The lowest-priced $2300 / 1999€ Canyon Dude CF 7 is new with a SRAM SX Eagle drivetrain, Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, and 76mm internal Sun Ringlé Mulefüt 80 SL v2 wheels. And at a claimed 13.5kg complete it is actually the lightest of the three. Plus, it gets a bright new Blaze Orange (red) paintjob that you won’t lose in the snow… or a more conservative Volcano gray.
For 2499€ the Canyon Dude CF 8 steps up to Shimano SLX 1×1 & RaceFace cranks, adds a house-brand Iridium 30.9 dropper seatpost, and gets 78mm internal DT Swiss BR2250 fat wheels, at 13.7kg in Deep Forest green or Volcano.
Then, the top 2999€ Canyon Dude CF 9 swaps in a 120mm Manitou Mastodon Pro STD fork for tackling more technical terrain, plus a XT 1×12 & the DT wheels, at 14.7kg complete in Aurora blue fade or Volcano gray.
