Canyon Bikes has developed a simple web-based data analytics tool that mines our Strava accounts to compare the hardest ride we have done recently to our average. The simple interface is designed to look at how us cyclists are pushing our limits, and to provide some more motivation to ride. It also gives a new metric to compare ourselves to others, and maybe can spur a bit of friendly competition. And as part of the group data analysis and social interaction, Canyon has put a custom-finished #BeyondLimits Exceed CF SLX mountain bike up for grabs. Click through for more details, and how to enter to win the bike…

The #BeyondLimits analysis happens quickly once you give it access to your Strava data, and takes your last 30 rides to illustrate how hard you pushed yourself on the ride it deems the toughest vs. your average over the same time. The infographic it produces splits in two parts, with the big triangle comparing to your own efforts and then adds a leaderboard of how you fit amongst everyone else who has put their data in. For my last 30 rides there was a bunch of commuting and broken up cross racing and training, so one 50k ride popped out high on distance and time, but not so much on power. For me it might be more interesting to look again outside of the short efforts of cyclocross season or if I could separate out my daily commute which knocks back my average. As it stands, it is still a fun web-based analytic that Canyon claims will grow in functionality over time.

As for the bike that up for grabs, it’s the new Exceed CF SLX that we introduced back at Eurobike. A special one-of-a-kind custom version of the cross country hardtail will go to one lucky participant in the #BeyondLimits program. All you have to do to enter is go to the #BeyondLimits site to create your own graphic and with each share of the graphic on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter you are entered again to win the bike, until January 1, 2016.
