Red Bull Rampage is arguably one of the most extreme events in all of outdoor sports, with the best freeride mountain bikers in the world taking on some of the wildest terrain on the planet. It’s truly a spectacle like no other. In its 25-year history, we’ve witnessed the evolution of big mountain freeride firsthand and a rate of progression that is almost unfathomable. While the riders deservedly get the spotlight, the photographers work tirelessly behind the scenes, putting in herculean efforts each year to capture the action and create the iconic imagery that always blows our minds.

In Pelican’s documentary short, “EXPOSURE: Capturing Red Bull Rampage”, they turn the lens around on three of Rampage’s most experienced photographers: Christian Pondella (25 years), Paris Gore (13 years), and Bartek Wolinski (12 years). We’ve all seen the images, but we don’t see the 4 am starts, 40-pound packs, ridgeline scrambles, triple-digit heat, and late-night editing sessions. This short film gives us a behind-the-scenes look and a little taste of the hard work and dedication it takes to shoot Red Bull Rampage. Check it out.
