Not all chamois creams are alike, and now there’s one made specifically for women. Paceline Products has introduced Her’ Chamois Butt’r with a little more tender love and care than its original cream. Her’ uses aloe vera, green tea leaf extract, tea tree oil, shea butter and lavender oil in its list of ingredients. The company says Her’ is pH balanced for women and was tested for more than a year before hitting the market this spring.

My girlfriends and I put Her’ to the test, using it on some long, steep climbs on the rough roads of Humboldt County. Click on through to see what we thought of it…

All of us liked the cream: it’s light, applies easily, didn’t feel greasy and seemed to do the job that chamois creams are supposed to. The added bonus was the light fragrance of lavender. The cream washed off my skin and shorts easily with cold water and soap.

Her’ also comes in small packets, which are convenient for road trips and race weekends. The company says its products are paraben free, gluten free and free of artificial colors or fragrances. In addition, it says it does not test its products on animals.

Her’ Chamois Butt’r is the newest product from Paceline, which also makes the original Chamois Butt’r and Eurostyle version. The 8oz. tubes will last a long time. I prefer Her’ over the original Chamois Butt’r because of its lavender fragrance. One of my friends preferred the more tingly feel that comes with the Eurostyle Butt’r, which is made with menthol and witch hazel. All of these chamois creams kept our butts comfy in the saddle.

We used the Eurostyle sports wash to clean our skin and our bike shorts. You only need a tiny bit of the solution mixed with a lot of water, otherwise you’ll be rinsing more than once. The instructions say not to twist the shorts but gently squeeze the water and soap out. That got the shorts clean without any Butt’r residue.

Kinky though it may be to butter up your unmentionables, the review and the washing instructions give me yet another reason to appreciate my recumbent…

I come from K.C. and having used many of the other brands… I’m still a loyal Chamois Butt’r fan. Now that I live in Europe, it’s harder to get but I still order it…. I imagine that the womens’ specific is made for a reason. Oh, yes, I like the Euro style better than the ‘normal’ as it’s cooling. For us endurance folks that spend upwards of 20 hours in the saddle, that makes a difference.
