Sky and British Cycling have announced that they will team up again this year to bring the popular Sky Ride back for 2010, with 12 events planned in 10 cities between July and September. A slew of cycling celebrities, including Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins, Victoria Pendleton, and Kelly Brook will participate in the non-competitive events, which feature closed roads in some of the UK’s major metro areas to allow and encourage citizens to explore their cities by bike.
The events kick off in Ealing, in west London on 18 July and then moves to major towns and cities across the UK: Bath and Southampton (25 July), Manchester (1 August), Middlesbrough and the London Borough of Redbridge both (15 August), Glasgow (22 August), Leicester (29 August), Bradford (29 August), Blackpool (31 August), Mayor of London’s Sky Ride in central London (5 September) and Birmingham (12 September).
The events are free to the public, but riders must register online at www.goskyride.com to participate.
