With the number of handmade builders doing fat bikes for shows like NAHBS, it’s sort of a wonder this didn’t happen sooner.
Chris King has just announced 83mm and 100mm versions of their bottom brackets for mountain bikes with oversized frames and tires. The 83mm model is aimed at the DH crowd. The 100mm’s additional width allows the chains to clear the 4″-plus tires often used on snow and mud bikes.
Per usual, they’re made in house from domestically sourced materials and use their grease gun tool to purge old grease (and contaminants) from the inside out. All 10 ano colors are offered.
Chris King offers a five year warranty on their bottom brackets. And their hubs. Coincidentally, ENVE Composites just upped their rim warranty to five years, too. And both build with each others’ US-made parts. Convenient, no? Even more convenient, King is starting up a demo tour to test these wheels on your own bike. Stay tuned for dates and info, we’ll post as it’s released.
