Brancale Long Sleeve Jersey 3

In March, we discussed historic Italian cycling brand Brancale‘s reincarnation and initial offerings of luxury leather goods. On the heels of that introduction, they’ve brought to market a long sleeved SportWool jersey at a level to match, continuing its tradition of meticulous design and Italian craftsmanship.

Every rider has a few staples to their wardrobe. New for Spring are several sure to be mainstays from newly re-established Brancale and New Zealand’s Ground Effect. More after the jump…

Brancale Long Sleeve Jersey 21Brancale selected SportWool, a Danish woven fabric that allows the jersey to have an interior of soft brushed Australian merino wool and a durable polyester and elastane exterior designed for comfort, durability, and superior wicking. Features include a button hole for headphone routing, triple rear pockets, a gripper at the waistline, and a zipper “garage” to prevent chaffing at the neck…all hand sewn by Italian seamstresses. The jersey is available now for US$175 on their website.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s own Ground Effect has debuted a series of domestically made, Hi-Impact fabric bottoms for men and women. The fabric may be ultra durable, but the series is designed to be fashionably versatile, so one would be able to go from the office to hit urban bandit trails without skipping a beat.

The series features articulated knees with reflective warming insulation (just in time for winter in that part of the world) and stretch panels in the waist for a smooth fit. And just in case, they feature a sewn-in emergency tube repair patch, as well as hidden zipper pockets to help you carry whatever trouble supplies you need to bring with you.

The Hi-Impact Step Throughs lightly lined women’s pants and men’s Ranchsliders retail for US$129 each.

Also for the men, the similarly featured, non-padded Supertankers shorts come in at US$99.

Love to see them bring back the Dynamic shoes from the 80s. Those were arguably the first modern cycling shoe in that they were designed from the ground up for clipless pedals, used straps instead of laces and were not black in color.

I am a fan of Ground Effects innovation and local manufacture (New Zealand that is).
Check out their slush fund work as well. Crowd pleasers DOWN UNDER.
