For years, the 26″ alloy Commencal Absolut dirt jumper has been a great bike for shredders to refine their slopestyle, dirt & pumptrack skills – mixing a solid frame & component specs with reasonable pricing. Now the Absolut 24 adds a smaller-wheeled version, with everything great about the original bike, but with 24″ wheels and geometry scaled down for younger riders… and a lower price!
Commencal Absolut 24, premium kid-sized dirt jump bike
Commencal says dirt jumping the Absolut has been the training grounds for generations of talented mountain bikers. Now the 24″-wheeled Absolut 24 just opens up the chance to start ’em even younger.
Practice makes perfect – whether on the local pumptrack or dirt jumps, or just up in the air somewhere…
Absolut 24 – Kid-friendly dirt jump fit & Tech details
The Absolut 24 shares the same triple-butted 6061 alloy construction of the original, with adjustable sliding dropouts to tension the single speed setup and a regular threaded BB.
It even still gets a 100mm travel Manitou Circus Expert fork – thanks to the availability of the 24″ JUnit model – and a SRAM Level 160mm rear disc brake.
Geometry is remarkably similar to the 26″ bike, but available in just one 24″ size to fit riders from 135-155cm tall (4’5″ to 5’1″). Proper kid fit isn’t limited just to geometry.
Like Commencal does on the rest of their well-built kids’ bike range, the Absolut 24 also gets child-sized components – like 140mm chromoly BMX cranks, smaller SDG Slater bars that are just 650mm wide, a smaller diameter SDG Slater Jr lock-on grips, and house brand Ride Alpha DJ Pivotal saddle & seatpost.
The little dirt jumper gets finished off in 24″ 32-spoke wheels with Alex FR30 alloy rims, Novatec hubs, and 2.0″ Schwalbe Billy Bonkers tires. Your kid will still have to provide their platform pedals of choice.
The 999€ Absolut 24 is offered in either bright Burning Orange or subdued Sand, and is expected to start shipping out pre-orders direct to the next generation of riders at the end of October 2020.
