There are some really good kids’ bikes these days. And thanks to brands like Prevelo and Kona, which will soon include incredible new full suspension bikes for the little rippers as well.
Prevelo Foxtrot Prototype Kid’s Full Suspension

Technically still a prototype, the Prevelo Foxtrot gives us a look at the future of full suspension from one of our favorite kids’ bike companies. While many kids are just getting the hang of two wheels at an early age, some, like Elliot Honeycutt, are already going full send. For those kids (and those who aspire to be like Elliot), Prevelo is about to release a real-deal full suspension bike with wheels as small as 20″.

Built with a hydroformed aluminum frame running a Horst Link suspension platform, the frame features Boost spacing, internal cable routing including dropper post, and a UDH dropout. There will be three Foxtrot models total, with the Foxtrot Three running 20″ wheels, the Foxtrot Four on 24″ wheels, and the Foxtrot Five on 26″ wheels. Travel gradually increases as well:
- Foxtrot Three – 20″ Wheels, 120mm rear travel, 120mm front travel
- Foxtrot Four – 24″ Wheels, 120mm rear travel, 130mm front travel
- Foxtrot Five – 26″ Wheels, 130mm rear travel, 140mm front travel
Front suspension duties are handled by the Manitou JUNIT Comp or Expert forks, and an RST Mono trunion rear shock provides suspension in the rear. Both components are custom-tuned to actually work with the weight of small children.

Like the Zulu hardtail series, the Foxtrot bikes are equipped with legit MTB components, including a MicroShift Advent 1×9 or 10s drivetrain, tubeless-ready rims and tires, Shimano Deore hydraulic disc brakes, and Prevelo’s HEIR Pivotal saddles and handlebars with smaller grip diameters.
Pricing is TBD, but you can expect these to go on sale later this year in time to potentially put one of these under the Christmas tree of your aspiring rider.
Kona Process 246

For slightly bigger kids, Kona will soon have a new bike in its lineup called the Process 246. Those numbers refer to the wheel size as the bike ships with a mini-mullet configuration with a 26″ wheel up front and a 24″ wheel in back. However, the frame is built to accommodate a 26″ wheel in the back as well, so as the child grows, you can move to a 26/26″ setup down the line.

Pricing and availability for the Process 246 are TBA.
