Several years ago when I was in the market for a full coverage half shell, something aimed at the all mountain segment we now call enduro, the selection was fairly limited. One of the few standouts was the Six Six One Recon, which paired well with their Kyle Straight Kneepads, and big air.

After several years with only minor updates, the company is introducing a new helmet that offers the same great protection, but uses some pretty neat technology to help improve fit and safety.

The new EVO AM has large ports for improved ventilation and utilizes Contigo foam, which offers a 30% improvement in impact protection over EPS.

A 360 BOA closure system secures the helmet evenly around, for improved fit. The helmet will also be available in two different trims – one with MIPS and one without.

Another unique feature is the magnetic Fit Block Closure, which allows the buckle to be open and closed one handed.

Four different color ways for the 661 Evo AM Helmet will be offered. MSRP for the base model is $150, while the MIPS version retails for an additional $50.

For those that still love the Recon, the helmet lives on as the Comp AM.

The first helmet Six Six One ever launched was a simple dirt jump style helmet, so for this year they’re updating that product with an improved anti microbial liner. It’s one size fits all, but three different liners with varying degrees of padding help dial in fit.

Like the EVO AM helmet, it also features a Fit Block magnetic closure system. MSRP is $38.99.

Six Six One has always made one of the best entry level full face helmets on the market, and they continue to keep that tradition alive (and stylish) with these new colorways.

For this year, Six Six One is also introducing new protective gear. On the ultra breathable side of the spectrum is the new Exo Line. This zip up jersey offers light back, shoulder, and chest padding, and is designed for maximum air flow and breathability.  It’s really texted extensively with the Athertons, and is designed for the Enduro racer who earns his turns, but still races the clock downhill.

On the burlier side, this slip on protective suite has a CE certified back panel, which meets the mandated requirements of European Enduro Racing leagues. Integrated shoulder and elbow pads also offer additional protection in the event of a big crash.

The rear protective panel can also be removed and replaced with a hydration bladder.
