Spain’s Crow Bicycles has decided to join the growing ranks of lightweight e-bikes with its new Gravital line.
In keeping with Crow’s longtime focus on gravel, the company’s new line includes several eGravel models. However, it’s also offering lightweight ebikes for the road and commuting.
With some of these bikes weighing just 28.6 pounds, Crow’s new e-bikes can compete with many of the lightest e-bikes on the market. The bikes come with the Fazua Rid 50 Trail motor system and a 252 Wh battery that will last for about 54 miles in the lowest assist setting.
By removing the battery, riders can shed another 6.6 pounds. This requires the installation of an optional hollow tube that also provides extra storage space for tools, snacks or extra clothing.
The bikes aren’t cheap, but their price points remain comparable to many e-bikes at this weight level.
Gravital UL 1 LTD
For those looking for the “top-of-the-range” gravel e-bike from Crow, that’s the Gravital UL 1 LTD. Now in the ultralight category, this bike sheds some weight to get down to just 28.6 pounds.
The bike includes the 13-speed Campagnolo Ekar rear derailleur, Campagnolo Shamal Carbon wheels, a super-light Ritchey Carbon Venturemax WC Shandlebar, and a Ritchey Carbon seat post. The bike also comes with Miranda Carbon cranks and the Essax Eon saddle with titanium rails.
With these parts and design, the bike isn’t cheap. It sells for around $9,354.
With its new e-bikes for gravel, Crow has included an option for riser handlebars. The bars provide a more “upright and comfortable stance” with more control, the company said in its release.
Risbar SL 4
This model weighs in at 33 pounds, or somewhere in between an ultralight electric mountain bike and a standard drop bar eGravel bike. It comes with Schwalbe G-One Bite tires in 700 x 40 with Shimano MT 500 wheels and a Shimano Alivio groupset with 38 x 11-42t.
It rings up at about $3,845.
Gravital Naked SL Series
Crow’s Naked series aims for commuters and weekenders looking for an enjoyable way to get around the city. It includes the same battery with the same 54-mile range, but with an ultralight carbon fork and flat handlebar designed by Ritchey.
These bikes come with 700 x 35 Schwalbe Kojak slick tires. The wide-range transmission and Shimano MT 201 hydraulic disc brakes make for easy and reliable mobility, the company said.
This model sells for $3,845.
Gravital Urbe
The Gravital Urbe weighs in at 34.6 pounds, making it another urban series bike with components aimed at commuting. It includes a rear rack, large mudguards, and riser handlebars.
It allows riders to maintain an upright position with the storage needed to haul stuff across town.
It sells for $4,157.
Gravital Pace
And finally, for the road endurance segment, Crow offers the Gravital Pace. It comes with road-specific handlebars — extra narrow for reducing drag. It also has Kojak slick tires and road-oriented transmission, making it a solid bike for longer distances and steep climbs.
It will cost you about $4,469.
