Early Winter Riding Gloves are a knitted wool laced with an LED lighting system. Both the fingertips and palm of the hand are conductive, so when making a fist the LEDs illuminate. Power releases from a 3v coin cell battery lodged in the cuff. Also, the fingertips of the gloves are touch phone compatible. Check them out here.

Colnago Disc Brake UCI

Brake manufacturers are pushing UCI toward disc brakes for road bikes. The Colnago, featured last week, is the first readily available disc-equipped road bike. Manufacturers are currently sending brakes to UCI for testing and final decisions – now, we wait. Full article at Bikebiz.

UltraMontane is a series of videos and images by videographer Conner Macleod and photographer Derek Dix. They capture the essence of winter MTB riding in Southwest British Columbia. This being the 5th in the series, you can check the other videos as well as a stunning set of images here.

Late this evening, or tomorrow morning, whatever 3AM on March 18th can be considered, the Marathon Crash Race happens again. Wolfpack Hustle in California is the brains behind it. The video above stunningly documents this dangerous, very unsanctioned race.

Ah, Cycling, one of the last bastions of the sporting world not dominated by Kenyans…Power Thirst! Africa Face : ) Anyhow – I love the idea of pirating a marathon course for a race, just don’t want to be surround by hipsters or roadies… maybe I want a cross country / cyclocross race with beer stops.

Dangerous and unsanctioned? They are on a closed course with megaphones. And I agree, there should be beer stops.

The Colnago is not the first readily available road bike with discs. Volagi has been at it for a while.

That should be fun, watching the pros at TdF going down mountains at 60-70 mph w/ disc brake failure, i.e. Tyler.
Hope they install safety nets along the road.
