The new Cyclowax Performance Wax Kit aims to make waxing your chains faster and easier than ever, even cleaning them in the process. Other than putting your chain in and pulling it out, just push a button and it does all the work for you.

Two things make this unique – vibrations, and the chain “spool”. The chain spool is an enclosed tray keeps your chain contained throughout the waxing and drying process. Just lay your chain in it, then dip, grab a coffee, then pull it out and stick the tray in the drying rack. Easy, peasy, and clean.

The integrated “shake engine” vibrates your chain during waxing, helping shake dust and dirt out from between plates and links during waxing. Presumably they mean from an already-waxed chain, so we’d recommend degreasing and cleaning your chain before the first waxing…and probably at least wiping down your dirty waxed chain before dipping it.

That said, we’re thinking you might be able to dip a new chain into a bath of degreaser and let the shake engine work its magic for a pre-waxing cleanse, too…try it, let us know.

The device is small, making it very portable, and warms up in just 8 minutes. Waxing cycle is two minutes, with a two-minute rewarming before it’s ready for another chain. Basically, it’s quick, small, and easy. Your excuses are melting as fast as their wax pucks, which it’s designed to use. Probably other waxes work, too.

Preorder special runs $196 USD and includes two bonus waxing trays, letting you get your friends’ chains up sped up, too…assuming you want them to be faster.

Doesn’t make sense. Release the chain’s dirt into the was and then let the dirty wax soak in? Neither this article nor Cyclowax explain in detail.

Bruh, anyone who waxes their chain knows to give it a quick wipe to get any extra dirt off the exterior before rewaxing. That’s all you need because a previously waxed chain should have minimal dirt inside of it

Wipe the chain down with a microfiber cloth before re-waxing. If conditions were really nasty, you can pour boiling water over the chain, dry it/let it dry, and then re-wax.
