Diamondback is starting a new Mission, and you’re invited. First launched in 2014, the Mission has been Diamondback’s longer travel all mountain bike which initially ran their Knucklebox suspension design. Following the successful run of the Catch & Release full suspension models, the Mission is getting a serious upgrade that includes carbon fiber and their Level Link suspension platform.
The new Mission features 160mm of Level Link travel in the rear paired with 180mm of travel up front and 27.5″ wheels. That should make it an excellent choice for riders looking for a bike with longer legs than the Catch & Release series, but something that is still capable of pedaling to the top.
Built with a full carbon frame and aluminum links for the suspension, the new frame features internal cable routing, a Metric rear shock, Boost 148mm hub spacing, and 27.5 x 2.6″ tire clearance. You’ll also find a threaded BB, ISCG-05 tabs, and internal dropper cable routing.
Available in two builds, each will be offered in just three sizes for now from S-L. That includes a 64° head tube angle and 75.5° seat tube angle and long-ish reach at 453mm for a medium.
The higher end option is the $4,999 2C which includes a Fox Float X2 Performance Elite shock, Fox 36 Performance fork, SRAM Code R brakes, and a SRAM X01 Eagle drivetrain with Tubeless Ready Race Face ARC rims with Maxxis DHF 2.5” and DHR 2.4” tires.
The blacked out 1C not only looks great, but it’s also $1,000 less at $3,999. That still includes a RockShox Super Deluxe R shock, RockShox Yari RC fork, SRAM Guide R brakes, and a SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain with tubeless Ready 27.5 Blanchard rims with Maxxis DHF 2.5” and DHR 2.4” tires.
Both bikes will be available later this summer.
