The new De Rosa SK pininfarina is the Italian brand’s first real aero bike, and it sits just underneath the Protos, unseating the King as the second in the lineup.
To create the shapes, they partnered with Pininfarina and used their wind tunnel, collaborating early on the design and aerodynamics. It also uses the new Campagnolo direct mount brake calipers, which they say they helped develop.
Then De Rosa applied their own expertise in bicycles to ensure it was properly stiff and stable, using a blend of 24T, 30T, 40T and 60T carbon fibers to get it just right…
The most visually striking part of the bike is the swept back seat tube, creating a fairing leading wind over the rear wheel, but fits 25c tires with room to spare.
Swappable cable ports mean there are only as many holes as you need, because it would be unstylish to have extra holes. The frame is designed to work equally well with mechanical and electronic drivetrains. The steerer tapers from 1.125″ to 1.25″ to keep the frontal profile slim without giving up the stiffness benefits of a tapered fork.
Battery is kept low in the seat tube with charging port on bottom of seat tube.
It uses the BB386EVO bottom bracket standard for wide, stiff cranksets.
Not sure if these seatpost bolt covers were preproduction, but the fitment wasn’t very tight on a few of the bikes.
The new Campy direct mount brakes were used to improve aerodynamics and power.
