EVOC fits an all new back protector to the outside of their new Neo 16l backpack that promises a more comfortable fit, better protection & improved ventilation that you’ll wear more. They also introduce two more Hip bags to leave the big backpacks at home for shorter rides, repaint their Multicolour Edition luggage, and update the popular Bike Travel Bag Pro.

2019 EVOC Neo 16l AirShield protector backpack

After 10 years of making back protecting packs for mountain bikers, for 2019 EVOC is thinking out of the box (or at least out of the bag) with their new Neo 16l pack.

AirShield Tech Details

The new backpack incorporates a unique external AirShield back protector that absorbs impacts better than most standard viscoelastic pads, while also serving as the contact point for the entire pack on the rider’s back.

By pulling the TÜV/GS-certified AirShield back protector out of the bag, EVOC can better ensure that the protector stays positioned correctly on your back for improved safety.

Of course what makes this all possible is the honeycomb-like open-lattice Xelion Nantotec Elastomer rubber construction for the AirShield pad that provides excellent ventilation. And then there are a series of five main blue contact pads that support the weight of the bag against the back while retaining impact shock absorption capability.

The AirShield setup is flexible and form-fitting so it adapts to your body for a secure but comfortable fit, and pairs with padded, shaped mesh shoulder straps and EVOC’s Airo Flex belt to sit comfortably and stable on your back no matter how loaded down.

EVOC attached the pad onto the bag at several points across the bag the keep it secure, if mechanically separate.

Neo backpack Tech Details

The new AirShield back protector is only available now in EVOC’s premium 250€ Neo 16l pack. It weighs 1580g (size S/M), comes in gold or dark gray, and includes EVOC’s full FREE crash replacement guarantee like their other protection gear! The Neo 16l is an otherwise full-featured pack including all the best of EVOC’s riding backpacks.

The bag features a pocket to store a 3l hydration bladder, plus plenty of other characteristic EVOC details and many pockets for storage. The outer main flap folds down for easy tool access, the top pocket opens with small mesh pockets and a fuzzy inside to protect your shades or electronics, and the bottom of the pack hides an integrated rain cover. It also gets a helmet carry system that will work with a half-shell or full-face lid, and has mesh side water bottle pockets

The Neo 16l comes in two sizes (S/M & L/XL) and includes adjustable height in the waist strap. It will be available from March 2019.

2019 EVOC Hip Pack Pro 3l mountain bike fanny pack

After the success of this year’s Hip Pack Race 3l, EVOC is back with a couple more waist-based ways to haul tools, food & water on the bike. We took a more in-depth look at the bags back at Sea Otter, but now they are getting closer to their fall 2018 availability.

The Hip Pack Pro 3l is the bigger of the two new bags (430g or 560g including the bladder), adding side bottle pockets to the 3l internal storage and ability to run a 1.5l bladder. It will sell for $120/90€ (or 120€ with the bladder in this red of a moss green.

2019 EVOC Hip Pouch lightweight 1l mountain bike fanny pack

The smaller Hip Pouch 1l drops the side pockets or the internal hydration bladder capabilities to just carry the essentials when you don’t have jersey pockets. The 220g bag sells for $60/45€ in this orange, green, or all black.

Together the Hip Pack Pro & Hip Pouch join last year’s 65€ Hip Pack to offer all of your mountain bike fanny pack needs.

2019 10th anniversary Multicolour Edition travel bags

Every year EVOC revamps their world traveling luggage family in a special Multicolour Edition collection. This year for the company’s 10th anniversary the slate gray, copen blue, and loam orange take their inspiration from a Mexico adventure their team athletes set out on – colors rooted in clear sky, blue tacos, and yellow dust.

Multicolour adds a couple new bags this year with the 190€ FR Trail 20l all-mountain technical backpack (1.3kg), and the new 145€ Mission Pro 28l (930g) light travel backpack.

Carryovers in the collection include the regular airline sized travel luggage – the big 290€ World Traveller 125l roller suitcase (4.2kg), the compact 230€ Terminal Roller 40l carry-on roller (2.8kg), or the 270€ Terminal Bag 40+20l (3.2kg) that zips a daypack onto the standard carry-on roller bag.

All of the new Multicolour Edition travel bags – including the smaller Travel Case 0.5l (145g) 30€, Wash Bag 4l (320g) 40€, and the giant Bike Travel Bag 285l (9.1kg) 440€ – will be available later this fall 2018.

2019 EVOC Bike Travel Bag Pro updates

EVOC’s flagship top of the like Bike Travel Bag Pro also gets a few key updates for the next season of globetrotting with a bike. The 595€ travel case for your bike now gets 6cm longer so it will work better with longer travel 29ers, plus adds extra space to fit 2.6″ tires now too. It also now includes the removable aluminum bike stand base introduced as an option last year. The bag also gets a revised clip-on wheel for easier airport maneuvering, and slight reshaping that lets it pack down more compactly when you get to your destination.

The 2019 edition gets a bit of 10 year anniversary detailing too, not subtly embellished with a combined dot print representing the Munich and Hong Kong skylines like the Multicolour Edition bags.

I have not interest in that backpack for safety purposes as I only ride with a bag for commuting but this is exactly what I’m looking for! Ride with the back plate on to the gym. Take a shower and remove the back plate so I can walk to the office without having my back get all gross
