True weight weenies, we have found your water bottle cage. Made by Carbon Works out of Germany (naturally), the cages were on display at Eurobike with a few different options.

The lightest was this incredible team-only option that came in under 4g, at 3.92g. This cage apparently has all the strength of their production cages, but lacks the plastic coating for grip.

Don’t worry though – the lightest production cage comes in at less than 1g more, at 4.82g.

All of the cages from Carbon Works are made with a proprietary process that uses tubular carbon fiber with a small hook at the bottom to create an ultra light cage. More impressive, is that they actually feel incredibly solid. The bottle retention seems like it would be more than adequate, and the plastic coating helps hold the bottle in place and make the cage more durable.

For even more durability there is an “8g” cage which weighed in at 7.35g. Like any proper weight obsessed company, the cages have names like 5g or 8g that are actually heavier than they really are.

Even though the 3.92g cage isn’t for sale, you can purchase the 5g or the 8g cage for 70€ which includes two anodized aluminum screws.

Carbon works also has a slick computer mount system which was displayed in front of this carbon fiber lion that they also made.

The Cockpit Mount bolts to the bottom two stem bolts of most stems and includes special hollow bolts. There are also three different computer length settings from 29mm, to 47mm, and 60mm. These settings are created by repositioning the computer mount on its hinged perch. There is also a separate +/-20° tilt setting for the screen itself. And thanks to the shape of the arms, it will adjust to fit 10-30mm width stem bolts.

To install on your stem, the stem bolts secure the face plate like normal. Then the arms recess into the bolts and a tiny allen bolt threads through the back of the bolt into the carbon arms to secure it in place. Because of this, you need a stem with open access to the back of the stem bolts.

Designed to work with Garmin, Sigma, and Wahoo computers, the mount weighs in at 17g and sells for 120€.

I still have 2 of the 6g M2 carbon cages from back in the day. They’re almost like paper.
