German grip masters, Ergon, have been making comfy touchpoints for cyclists since 2004. Today, they expand the offerings of their popular GDH Grip. The new updated GDH Grip will come in a whopping seven new colors and three sizes: GDH Slim, GDH, and GDH Fat.

The GDH is World Champion Vali Höll’s grip. It was co-developed with her and two other gravity racers, Troy Bronson and Luca Shaw. The three different grip sizes share the same design foundation: a multi-directional damping system, anatomic finger boxes, and the company’s GravityControl Rubber Compound.

“I’ve been on the GDH for years, and I’ve been riding the Slim version for two months now,” offers Ergon athlete Nate Hills. “The damping is definitely on par with the original GDH — the Slim gives me better precision, while still delivering plenty of cushion on the rough stuff.

GDH Features

The GDH Grips feature interlocked cushion blocks on top, providing progressive damping. This means the blocks are softer upon initial contact, becoming more supportive at peak impact.

The finger boxes that are under the GDH grips are angled to accommodate a racing position. And there are inner and outer stops that help position the rider’s hand and thumb for comfy shifting.

The GDH Slim carries a 30mm diameter. It’s targeted at riders who like direct trail feedback and want to feel those terrain changes through technical sections.

The original GDH still rocks a diameter of 32mm and maintains its balanced approach. It combines direct feel with ergonomic shaping to reduce hand fatigue and arm pump during long, high-speed rides.

The new GDH Fat features a 34mm diameter, increasing the contact patch with your palm. This helps distribute pressure more evenly to reduce fatigue on longer, rougher descents while providing additional cushioning.

Each size uses the same GravityControl Rubber Compound, Ergon’s softest formulation. It’s designed to maximize vibration damping without compromising grip performance.
