Claiming to be the World’s Lightest Production Road Bike, Everti has released the Eagle. Weighing just 5.17kg (11.4 lbs) for a size Medium complete bike, it’s spec’d responsibly and completely…in other words, it has a complete gear range, full bar tape and a padded seat. You know, things you like to have on a bike. Some of the lightest bikes floating around out there cut out some of those amenities.

In a BikeBiz article, Everti Bicycles owner Kurt Knock had this to say: “We have spent the past year refining the details and product testing to ensure everything will stand up to real-world riding. The only limitations of this bike are teh legs that are going to be pushing the pedals.”

The frame is 3/2.5 double butted titanium front triangle with straight gauge tubing in the rear triangle. It has a 25 year warranty!

Sooo…as with any bike, the frame can only contribute so much to the diet. Wanna see how this bike is spec’d? Hit “more”…

The top tube is a 32mm diameter bi-axial ovalized tube and the down tube is a 40mm diameter multi-shaped bi-axial tube shape.  Here’s how it’s built:

  • SRAM RED group
  • Zipp Vuma Quad Cranks (580g)
  • Zipp Handlebar (I’m guessing the SL Bar – 170g)
  • Custom Edge Composites Wheels
  • Tufo Tires
  • KCNC brakes (82g each)
  • KCNC cassette (guessing at this from the color… 103g for 11-23T)
  • Extralite Stem (81g – 90g, 90mm – 120mm)
  • Ritchey WCS fork and seatpost
  • FSA Headset (looks like the Orbit 1 – 54.3g)

Everti claims the frame is up for any size and style rider, but that some of the components have a 200lb (91kg) rider weight limit.

So what does 11.4lbs of envy inducing bike cost you? A surprisingly low $9,995 USD. Why do I say this is low? Because a Trek Madone 6.9 Pro will set you back $9,130 and it probably weighs at least 3 lbs more than the Eagle. Ridiculous.

As my wife put it: “Some girls’ purses weigh more than this.”

Interesting how all the “Lightest bike” claims use a frame of titanium, a material that has lost much of its following (sales) to Carbon… The reality is that these ultra light ti frames are pretty whippy. OK for a light, high spinning, low torque rider.

I like ti and all the comments I hear about the ultralight ti framesets are slamming the lack of stiffness in the bb area. wonder how this one fairs?

How do they afford a 25 year warranty? Interesting…

In response to the commetns made regarding the Eagle:
1) This is a lightweight bike built around a sturdy frame. I know other manufactureres have offered super light Ti frames and they have been whippy and most of them broke. The Eagle frame is only 5% less stiff than our most popular model, the Falcon and has been designed to last.
2) I don’t anticipate much problem with our warranty of 25 years since in the past 9 years of business we have only had two warranty issues with our road frames. I think that track record speaks for itself. I design frames to last.

I thought the GURU Photon was the lightest production bike. A hair under 10lbs complete.
