As the weather shifts in the Northern Hemisphere in the wake of some record breaking winter storms, riders around the world are relishing the opportunity to get outdoors and soak in the vitamin D. Eyewear manufacturers are ready for the change in season with some new offerings to keep your eyes safe whether out on the road, trail, or any other active situation out under the sun. Here’s three new options to keep your vision protected in style, no matter what your use case!

Smith Shift MAG is geared for speed

Smith’s new Shift MAG offering utilizes their MAG lens swap technology to allow for super quick lens changes on the fly. With three ChromaPop lens options in Black, Red Mirror, and Platinum Mirror, with a Photochromic Clear to Gray option as well, Smith has your eyes covered no matter what the lighting conditions are.

With a medium fit and large coverage, and a two-position adjustable nose pad, the Shift MAG should fit most faces and are designed with a slight wrap fit Smith says is flatter than most performance eyewear which is consistent with the trend these days.

Included with the Shift MAG glasses are your choice of a color enhancing lens (either photochromic or ChromaPop), one clear lens, performance hard case, and microfiber bag. Available in four colors to match any kit at Smith or Smith stocking dealer with an MSRP of $259 USD.

HindSight Edge Keeps your Eyes on the Road While Checking your Six

HindSight Edge Sport Angle

Not satisfied with the current market offerings of rear-view capabilities for cyclists, HindSight is bringing their Edge glasses to the market to provide a sleek option for those wishing to save watts and stay aero, or keep their look together with an unobtrusive choice that compliments the lifestyle.

Designed by award-winning optical engineers and refined with the input of Olympic gold-medal track cyclist Callum Skinner, the Edge does away with the traditional bolt-on or stick-on style rear-view mirrors that have been on the market for ages. Instead, the Edge features a lens that has a slight angle towards the outside edge which is actually a semi-transparent mirror – providing both UV protection like a traditional pair of sunglasses while allow the rider to see behind them with a quick shift of focus which HighSight say saves the look back usually needed. Hindsight claim that not only do the Edge glasses allow a rider to have constant ability to see ahead while allowing increased situational awareness of what’s behind, but this also allows riders to maintain an aero position while riding without sacrificing watts to look back.

HindSight Edge Hemp Front
The Edge Hemp features a frame made with Hemp Fiber

Born out of one too many near-misses by the founder Alex on rides around London, the Edge glasses are offered in three trims to appeal to all riders, from casual commuters to fully kitted athletes focused on performance. The Sport model features a slick black frame in addition to two more lifestyle oriented designs incorporating a hemp fiber frame as well as a hybrid hemp and plastic frame that are hand crafted in Scotland. Hindsight say that the use of hemp fiber is not only sustainable but also one of the highest strength and most durable all-natural textile fibers available, with minimal weight to boot.

Check out HindSight if you’re interested, the Edge glasses are available for pre-order with MSRP ranging from £199.99 to £219.99 (about $280-305 USD at the time of writing)
