Fara Cycling’s latest carbon Gr4 gravel bike takes gravel racing to the next level with huge tire clearance, significant weight loss, and a wild-looking new modular 2-piece cockpit that adds adjustability, improved ergonomics, and tidy cable integration. Fara describes the new Gr4 as Goldilocks – a new bike developed so riders don’t have to pick either an adventure bike or a race bike. This new Gr4 is a fast aero-influenced but comfort-oriented gravel race bike with room for massive 2.2″ mountain bike tires if you need them, internal frame storage, and ergonomic cockpit adjustability… all in a frame that now weighs less than 1 kilo.
Fara Gr4 adventure-ready carbon gravel race bike

For their fourth generation of adventure-ready mixed-surface dropbar bikes, Norwegian bike company Fara Cycling have created the Gr4 – a versatile & capable gravel bike that’s happy to be a light & fast race bike or fully loaded down to go bikepacking off-the-beaten track deep in the backcountry. While Fara’s first bikes leaned more in the all-road/fast gravel touring direction, their dedicated F/GR gravel bike already had big-for-the-time 50mm tire clearance four years ago.

Now with this new carbon Gr4 gravel race bike, Fara takes it to the next level. With even bigger tires – now up to 57mm, lighter weight – shedding 200g on the frame plus another 300g in the frame kit, and a twin-spar modular cockpit – with 10mm of Reach adjust and 4 bar sizes with width-specific flare.
“We didn’t want to force riders to choose between a bike that’s built for racing and one that’s built for exploration, with the Gr4, we worked with our athletes and designers to create something that excels at both. A lightweight, responsive frame with huge tire clearance and refined ergonomics make it perfect for modern gravel racing, exploration and everyday riding alike.”
– Jeff Webb, Fara Cycling founder
What’s so unique about the Gr4?
Fara Modular Cockpit 2-piece ergonomics & integration concept

While the bulk of new road and gravel race bikes have adopted 1-piece carbon cockpits for sleek aero integration, Fara has opted for something different… and slightly complicated. Instead of sticking with a traditional 2-piece bar & stem (the Gr4 is still compatible with regular 1 1/8″ stems), they’ve come up with their own proprietary two-part system.

Fara says that it’s lighter than a conventional bar & stem and more comfortable than most 1-piece solutions, while also giving the rider 10mm of stem length/reach adjustability (with the flat 4-bolt top mounting) and a direct mount solution for optional aero bars if you want to go that ultra-distance route.

The Fara Modular Cockpit solution still lets users pick their ideal stem length (3 options available). And then you can mix-and-match any of their 4 bars. Each handlebar features generous backsweep and a bit of sloping drop on the tops to naturally align with your wrist angle for comfort. Then the bars get variable flare to their drops – 8* for the narrowest bar, up to 12° for the widest bars.
