Farr’s new Headspace 35 mountain bike stem brings that same retro off-road bullmoose cockpit setup to fully modern trail bikes. After overwhelming response to their original ultra-endurance Headspace stem for 31.8mm gravel & bikepacking bars, Farr is back with a shorter, stiffer version to upgrade your trail or enduro bike with some classic style.

Plus, they have a new out-front GPS mount for more endurance aero bar setup flexibility…

While Farr has always built components to extend their/your off-road adventures, the Headspace 35mm stem is their first truly mountain bike only product. And from what we hear it won’t be their last…

Taking all that worked with the 31.8 stem, the new Headspace 35 is shorter to work with modern aggressive trail geometry, and of course larger diameter 35mm bars. That move created a much stiffer stem, and meant they could drop the strut connecting the split bar clamps. In the end, Farr calls it a much burlier setup, ready for the toughest trail, enduro & eMTB riding. “Retro-inspired, modern functionality.

The new Farr Headspace 35 stem come in one size – zero rise, 35mm bar clamp, 50mm extension. It fits standard 1.125″ (28.6mm) upper steerers, with 40mm stack.

It uses the same 70mm c-c bolt spacing as the original Headspace so it also works directly with Farr’s Bolt-on mini aero bar extensions. Like the original, the Headspace 35 requires at least an 85mm wide clamping area on your 35mm diameter handlebar.

The stem is forged with hollow recesses below to balance stiffness:weight, then machined down to a claimed 142g weight (more than 30g lighter than the 31.8x70mm version.)

Recognizing that some riders with 31.8 bars will prefer the shorter geometry, Far will also sell a set of full width shims to fit the more common 31.8mm handlebars. Without needing to connect the two arms/struts of the stem, you can attach 35mm mounts in between for a GPS or other accessory.

Designed specifically to bolt onto the front end loops of Farr’s aluminum Aero Gravel bar or alloy Aero Bolt-On extensions, this simple new computer/accessory mount will give more cockpit setup options to anyone with standard 22.2mm round bars to attach to.

The 43g adjustable angle $37.50 mount includes standard Garmin & Wahoo GPS inserts and can be mounted in front of, or inside the loop of Farr’s bars. And likely it could be a solution for other tricky aero bar setups with the same bar diameter, and even to attach other accessories through the standard threaded pivot mount. Available for pre-order now, the new mount will also ship out starting in March 2021.

Nice stem.

Pre-order is a joke. Either you have a product ready for market, or you don’t…..

I’d want to see the fatigue testing results before buying. The area around the rear bar bolts is stress-riser city.

Aero bars for a mtn bike? Also, by spreading the clamp area of the bars, you could possibly be wider than the reinforced area of the bar. Not for me!
