Fluid Fresh Citrus sports drinkFluid, which started out with a recovery drink that we reviewed quite positively, last fall expanded into sports drinks for during activity. Now, they’ve added a Fresh Citrus flavor option to their mostly berry-like catalog.

Somehow we missed this one in our Interbike nutrition round up, but not because we didn’t like it. Fluid’s products all have a fairly light flavor, which is a good thing when riding hard since they remain palatable and easy to drink. Many of us have used them extensively with no complaints. A sampling of the citrus flavor at Outdoor Demo suggests it’ll please those looking for a non-berry option.

PRESS RELEASE: Fluid Sports Nutrition is proud to introduce the latest addition to its family of all-natural sports drinks: “Fresh Citrus.”

An energizing blend of tangerine and grapefruit flavors, Fresh Citrus offers a new variety to Fluid’s proven electrolyte formula.

Recently deemed the “best-tasting drink mix at Interbike” by Road Bike Action Magazine, Fresh Citrus is less sweet than many sports drink alternatives and is designed to embody a light, refreshing taste that is easy to consume during exercise.

“Most drinks have way too much sugar and flavor, often causing stomach upset and requiring excessive dilution” says Richard Smith, CEO of Fluid. “Fresh Citrus is our answer to the athlete’s need for a lighter flavored drink that is both nutrient dense and incredibly refreshing. At 200 calories per 24 oz bike bottle and 400 milligrams of sodium citrate, the athlete receives the nutrients they need to perform their best.”

The new flavor will be available for pre-order on the Fluid website on Monday, October 15 at livefluid.com. Orders will be ready for shipping in early November.

Fresh Citrus accompanies Raspberry Lemonade, Blueberry Pomegranate, and Passion Fruit Tea as the fourth flavor in the the award-winning Fluid Performance electrolyte drink collection.

Released in the Fall of 2011, Fluid Performance was developed in addition to the original Fluid Recovery products. Since then, Fluid Performance has become widely recognized for its great-tasting flavors and no-nonsense formulas.

The drink mixes are designed using all-natural ingredients to supply efficient energy, buffer lactic acid, and alleviate cramping during exercise.
