FMB debuts new all surface Service Course road tubulars

We mostly know FMB from seeing their handmade cyclocross tubulars under multi-time US champions Jeremy Powers and Katie Compton, and even spent a season race testing the excellent SSC Slalom tires for a season. But built on the same hand stitched road carcass that FMB has ruled the cobbles of the northern classics with their Paris-Roubaix range, comes a new premium handmade French tubular that promises faster rolling on the straights with equal grip in the corners. The new Service Course comes in three different constructions to suit both your budget and road styles and a couple of sizes to satisfy most road racers. The new road Service Course tires fill out the FMB road range as a mid-width race tire for normal road surfaces. It is available in either 22.5mm for those unwilling to get wider or 25mm for roadies who appreciate a bit more comfort for long racing. The Service Course comes in each of FMB’s three carcass types, so you can get it in Egyptian cotton, carbon reinforced for more protection, or the most supple of all in natural silk.


FMB sees the new tire as their best performing and most versatile in all conditions. The siped center tread is fast rolling, while the shoulder chevrons offer more grip in looser or wet corners. The cotton tires sell for 80€ a piece, and 84€ each for the carbon version. No official word on the silk version, but expect about a 20€ premium. The tires are all available now, you just might have to wait a few days to get in line with all the pros who are asking these days for new tubulars to be sewn up for the Northern Classics.
