Focus already has a solid 150mm travel alloy all-mountain ebike with their original JAM², but now the full carbon JAM² SL takes natural riding to the next level with a much lighter frame, much lighter powertrain, and adaptable enduro-leaning geometry. Focus calls it the perfect blend of two worlds, a light & nimble feel on the trail boosted by smooth Fazua ebike power to help you up the next climb…
Focus JAM² SL light all-mountain ebike
The regular JAM² gets powerful Shimano & Bosch motors backed by up to 720Wh batteries. But this new Focus JAM² SL takes a lighter approach. Instead, it features German e-bike motor-maker Fazua’s lighter Ride 60 compact e-drive system, with its own integrated 430Wh battery. And if you need more range, you can always add on a 210Wh external bottle battery for longer rides – but leave the extra weight at home for everyday rides.
What’s new in the Super Light?
A lighter motor & battery is one obvious way to lighten up an eMTB and make it handle more like a proper mountain bike. But the move to a full carbon frame also helps save a good bit of weight – helped by a simplified linkage design as well.
Focus doesn’t focus a lot on the precise weight savings of motor/battery/frame… But comparing the XT level build of the two ebikes, the new JAM² SL with premium MAX carbon at a claimed 19.2kg (42.3lb) is a full 5.7kg (12.5lb) lighter than the higher-powered alloy bike.
Maybe you really don’t need so much boost, when you realize that the more powerful bike is also 30% heavier than this one!
Adaptable all-mountain to enduro geometry
The lighter ebike is certainly going to be more nimble, but the JAM² SL is also going to be more capable pairing the same 150mm of 3rd generation F.O.L.D. four-bar rear suspension to a 10mm longer 160mm fork, and with adaptable geometry – in 4 stock sizes (S-XL).
The new carbon ebike gets a flip-chip at the rear rocker pivot to adjust between a 64.5 or 65.5° headtube angle, plus another flip-chip at the drop-out to let you pick a stable 447mm or more snappy 440mm chainstay length.
Tech details
The carbon 29er JAM² SL frames are a bit unique in that their Fazua systems are almost completely internal, with just the motor cooling fins visible under the bottom bracket. And the battery actually drops out of the bottom of the downtube to charge.
They also tuck cables inside as well, routing everything internally through the stems & headsets into the frame.
JAM² SL frames feature extra-sealed bearings at all pivots, custom frame protectors on the downtube & chainstay, plus stick-on frame decals for riders to add extra anti-scuff protection as needed.
Built for technical trail riding of all sorts, the Focus JAM² SL is rated for a total system weight of 135kg, including bike, rider & gear.
Focus JAM² SL ebike – Pricing & options

The Focus JAM² SL 8.7 is the most affordable at 6200€ with SRAM NX Eagle mechanical, or upgrade to Shimano XT with the 7000€ JAM² SL 8.8.
