Movado Parlee automatic chronograph wristwatch

Announced just around the time of Interbike, this little gem got lost in the shuffle of tradeshow madness. Created with Movado, the automatic chronograph mixes two premium frame materials, carbon and titanium, into a 46mm wristwatch. The piece celebrates Parlee’s craftsmanship, but benefits World Bicycle Relief with every purchase.

There are some 250 layers of carbon fiber used, with a full UD face and woven sub faces for the stopwatch dials. Even the bezel is layered carbon, which a curve to match your wrist that only becomes evident when viewed from an angle. Titanium buttons and frame support it all for what’s sure to be a very lightweight timepiece.

Only 250 were made, each is individually numbered on its exhibition case back, and it’s available in four different accent colors…

Pick from white, blue, orange or green accent colors to match your bike. The titanium is finished in a black PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating.

not a fan of these cross-marketing tie-ups. i buy a watch from someone that makes watches. i buy a bike from someone that makes bikes. no need to combine them. it’s silly.

I have to agree – particularly because this seems like such a random connection. I mean, Movado “the museum watch” is not one easily associated with sports and Parlee – with most of their frames made in Taiwan – isn’t exactly a boutique choice… perhaps they were united by a common price point

State Watch Company is a new company started from a handmade framebuilder who no longer builds bikes. Based in LA, CA.

kaliyuga – “with most of their frames made in Taiwan” Incorrect. The entire Z range – Z Zero, Z1, Z2 and Z 3, plus their cross, track and their tourer are all handmade in the US.

The TTiR, Altum range and the ESX are made in CHINA. Hardly “most” of their range, and not Taiwan.

Carbon bikes have been around for a few years. Apparently, Movado people aren’t cycling fans if a Parlee is the first carbon bike they’ve ever seen.

While I’m a huge fan of custom bikes and used to collect watches. This is quite stupid, you can’t tell it has anything to do with a bike.

Even though it still doesn’t make much sense, it would be more sensible to make a stupid Movado watch that mounts to stem of a Parlee bike. Not too different I guess than a Rolex clock in a Ferrari

I was thinking ‘what a nice watch’… right up to the part where you said it cost $7500…

Hi Kim, thanks for the factual clean-up, but I think it misses the point.

I would guess that the spin is carbon bike guys and watch guys get together to make carbon watch rather than bike watch ?

Heading off the retort that Parlee aren’t the best carbon manufacturers in the world many would argue that Movada aren’t the best watch makers in the world….

That’s marketing hype working overtime! As both a bike guy and a watch guy, there is no Movado I know of worth $7500 using their existing case, bracelet, dial and movement technology (short of 18k gold). For that coin, you could have a really REALLY nice watch made by the best watch brands out there!

I am a big fan of Parlee, but even if they took a zero off the end of the price I still wouldn’t consider buying this watch.

@Kim Roberts – While Parlee may have more MODELS made in the US, I can guarantee they produce far more UNITS outside of the US.

Oh, and by my seat-of-the-pants estimate, this is somewhere between 10-12x too expensive. Had Parlee paired with Tag, ok.

The two buttons on the bezel look like stem cap bolts. Ha.

When a watchmaker doesn’t list the automatic movement manufacturer you know they have something to hide. Most likely an ETA 7753 which while a nice movement belongs in watches half that price.

Anybody in the market for this watch should consider pairing it with the $6000 Lambo smartphone (http://www.engadget.com/2014/12/09/lamborghini-88-tauri/). Basically a $6000 leather cover. I can find better looking ones at Best Buy.
