Whether you prefer air or coil suspension, Fox’s X-family of shocks has the needs of trail and all-mountain bikes and riders in mind. Now, for 2026 (model year 2027), Fox is updating its popular Float X air shock, DHX coil shock, and the Live Valve Neo versions of both. While their outward appearance is nearly identical to the original versions introduced in 2022, Fox continues to make incremental internal updates to improve performance on the trial.

What’s New?

According to Fox, the updates to the X-family shocks were made to bring X2-level (Fox’s gravity line) performance to the lighter, smaller, and simpler trail-oriented platforms. For both the Float X and the DHX, Fox tells us they have completely new base valves and main piston assemblies. And that “the updated high-flow piston design approaches the performance of the Float X2 and DHX2 — delivering increased sensitivity, improved support, and better rear tire grip for riders.”

Both the Float X air shock and the DHX coil shock are available in all of the typical eye-to-eye and stroke lengths. Fox also offers both shocks with Live Valve Neo, the brand’s auto-adjusting wireless suspension control. This gives trail riders four options to suit their specific needs and preferences. “Some chase efficiency, some chase flow, some push their bikes as hard as possible. And that’s exactly why FOX builds a full ecosystem of Trail suspension. Lightweight options, coil options, and smart suspension options. All designed to deliver performance without compromise.”

Float X: Smash Ready

From Fox: “FLOAT X remains the master of Trail and AM suspension. It delivers fade-free performance, sophisticated damping, and class-leading durability. For riders seeking a high-performance air shock, FLOAT X provides the ideal balance of sensitivity, support, and efficiency.

DHX: Loyal to Coil

From Fox: “For riders who prefer coil suspension, DHX delivers unmatched traction and ground-hugging performance; further improved with our new internals. Coil shocks offer incredible small bump sensitivity and consistency on long descents. For many aggressive Trail riders, coil truly is king.

Additional updates to the DHX include an improved top-out bumper intended to make the shock quieter while riding. Fox also updated the MCU bottom-out bumper to improve performance and durability.
