Rolling big no longer means rolling heavy, and now rolling light doesn’t mean rolling expensive. Or, at least, not too expensive. Framed has made a name for itself offering carbon and alloy bikes at very affordable prices, and now they’re rolled out this set of carbon-rimmed fat bike wheels to provide a similarly well-spec’d budget offering to wheel upgrades.
The rims are 80mm wide, are tubeless ready and (they say) ready for “any abuse you can throw at them.” Full specs, weights and pricing below…
They’re laced to the relatively new DT Swiss Big Ride hubs, but with a price of $1,099, they’re only about $100 more than the complete DT Swiss Big Ride wheelset! And they’re lighter, coming in at a claimed weight of 2,090g. So, lighter, presumably stiffer, and about the same price as an alloy rimmed wheelset…what’s not to like?
Pick between standard and XD freehub bodies, Centerlock or 6-bolt disc brake mounts. Available online at the-house.com or through dealers upon request.
about 800 grams lighter than my stock mulefut on my Farley
Any info on the rims?
Weights don’t make sense.
985gram rim weight, but 1100 gram built rear wheel? A DT 350 rear hub in 190mm sizing weighs a reported 300 grams.
Is the rim much lighter than 985 or the wheelset much heavier than 2090g?
That rim weight has to be way off. I doubt they’re over 650g since they’re single walled
Possible typo, do they weigh 685?
Wow, sweet hoops at a great price and weight. I’m betting their going to sell a few sets of those.
A double wall carbon Whisky rim, very strong, in 70mm is 675 gr., and in 100mm width is 735 grams.

Typo. The Carbon Framed 80mm rim is 660g.
