On September 20, 2025, a young Frenchman named Oscar Delaite wheelied his way into the record books by riding the longest continuous wheelie on a bicycle. In Vittel, France, Delaite kept his front wheel off the ground for 752 laps of a 200 m indoor track, totaling 150.4 km (93.39 miles) over the course of six and a half hours.

I finally achieved my wheeling record goal! After a year of preparation, I did the longest wheelie in history: 150 km in 6 hours and 31 minutes, without stopping,” said Delaite. “The day went really well. It was hard, long, very long… but it was worth it! Mission accomplished, and I’m super proud to have reached the 150 km mark and fulfilled the contract!

World Record Wheelie Stats:

  • Distance: 150.4 km (93.39 miles)
  • Elapsed Time: 6 hrs 30 mins
  • Laps: 752 (200 m indoor track)
  • Avg Speed: 23.14 kph (14.38 mph)

The numbers behind the effort are nothing short of mind-boggling. While the result still needs to be officially certified to be validated, Delaite nearly doubled Richard Flanagan’s previous record of 81.59 km set in 2019. Riding 150 km with both wheels on the ground takes some serious effort, but to do it in a wheelie is a truly astounding feat of balance and athleticism.

Why a track? As he says, “For it to be officially validated, I need an approved track, like an athletics track, for example.” The indoor track in Vittel removed all variables, provided a perfectly flat, consistent surface, protection from the weather, and, most importantly, from the wind.

For the wheelie record, Delaite rode a rigid frame from his sponsor, Rose Bikes. It was clad in plump, smooth Thickslick tires from one of his other sponsors, Wilderness Trail Bikes. There doesn’t appear to be anything else particularly noteworthy about his bike setup, other than the heavily nose-down position of his saddle to suit the wheelie body position.

Not His First World Record

This isn’t Delaite’s first time in the record books. In fact, he already holds two Guinness World Records. In 2023, he set the record for the longest bicycle wheelie with no front wheel with a distance of 100.5 km. He followed that up in 2024 with the longest-duration one-handed bicycle wheelie of 1 hour 46 minutes and 36 seconds.

So, this is the third year in a row that Delaite has set a new World Record for riding only on the rear wheel of his bicycle, and it doesn’t sound like it’ll be the last. As he said in one of his recent Instagram posts, “A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me since the beginning of this adventure. This is only the beginning.”

It’ll be interesting to see what challenge Delaite takes on next. We’ll be following along, and you should too. He’s on Instagram @oscar.delaite

I bet this guy finds it nearly impossible to not spend half of a bike ride doing wheelies. It’s a manual life.

Man- not having to buy two tires at $100 a pop is sure attractive.
