- Liv Cycling to host women’s only trail session at Crankworx on Mrs. Black – At both Crankworx Rotorua and then again at Whistler, Liv Cycling is inviting female riders to come out and enjoy an exclusive trail session alongside Liv’s pro athletes and brand ambassadors. At the first stop the ladies will take over one of Skyline Rotorua’s most-exciting trails – the Mr. Black trail – during Crankworx. New Ohio traffic safety law from March 21 – Motorists will now be required to give bicyclists at least 3′ of passing clearance in Ohio, care of the new three-foot bicycle passing law, HB 154, signed by Governor Kasich which becomes effective on March 21. - CycloFemme announces partnership with World Bicycle Relief to promote female empowerment – To celebration the 6th annual CycloFemme Ride on May 14, riders can increased their impact by fundraising to provide bicycles to school girls in Kenya through World Bicycle Relief, with donation matching by an anonymous donor. “Empower the Girl. Ignite the Woman.” is the driving theme for the 2017 global CycloFemme ride. Using the bike as a tool for empowering girls and women, CycloFemme is calling on cyclists to join in worldwide on the May 14 weekend. Registration is open for rides around the globe. - Improve classroom performance via Riding for Focus with the Specialized Foundation – The Specialized Foundation is now accepting applications for the Riding for Focus Cycling Program for the 2017-2018 school year. The program uses cycling as a tool for children to achieve academic, health and social success. Through investments in primary scientific medical research and school-based cycling programs, the mission is to increase accessibility to cycling in order to aid youth in personal development and education. - Annual nominations for the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame are open now through tax day – Every year up to 7 people and organizations who’ve made their mark on the sport can get inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. The nomination process is completely open to the public if they meet the organization’s criteria. - à Bloc beer got funded and will be coming to you soon – We heard about the à Bloc beer back in January, and apparently their crowdfunding was hugely successful. What that means for you reader and beer drinker is that they are now expanding their on- and off-line distribution setups. That means more bike beer access in the Netherlands, Australia, Spain, and the UK for now. - 2017 Pump Battles across Europe – The biggest urban pumptrack battle is back for a new year where you can compete on both a looped and straight modular pump track to see who can rail the hardest and fastest without pedalling. With the modular setup, it’s possible to compete against riders at other events all season long, with winners crowned at each event and at the end of the series.
