Fulcrum is bringing a lot of their upper end alloy mountain bike wheel tech to a bit lower price point thanks to simplified component selection. Two models get the trickle down treatment, the XC/Marathon Red Passion 3 (shown above) and the Red Power HP, which is slightly wider and taller for trail riding. Both are compatible with standard SRAM/Shimano cassettes and XD driver bodies, and both work with standard QR, 15×100 and 12×142 thru axles, and 12×135 rear axles.

The Red Passion 3 grows to a 21mm internal width, but keeps a shallow 20mm height to minimize rotational weight. The cost savings come from switching to an alloy hub shell rather than the intricate carbon ones on the originals.

The Red Passion 3 comes tubeless ready with rim tape pre-installed and gets a Boost hub width option, though it’s not listed with weights or in the spec charts at bottom of this post. The whole wheelset comes in at just 1,500g (claimed) for the 29er, and 1,450g for 27.5. Add 35g per pair for Boost. Prices are €515 to €531 per pair.

The Red Power HP is the evolution of the XL model and grows the rim to 28.5mm wide (23mm internal) with a 19.5mm height. Spec sheets for both are:

Pricing ranges from €287 to €311 per pair depending on setup.
