Fulcrum Rapid Red Carbon gravel bike wheels
Each new addition to the Rapid Red gravel family has added a new level of mixed-surface performance, all made-in-Europe with proven disc brake tubeless tech, getting a little wider & lighter each time. It started two years ago with entry-level Rapid Red 5s, then mid-spec alloy Rapid Red 3s last year.
Now the Fulcrum’s Rapid Red Carbon wheels take it up a notch further with a new wider, deeper gravel-ready carbon rim to help speed up your backroad exploration rides and take you further off the beaten path.
Tech details
The all-new, made-in Europe Fulcrum Rapid Red Carbon wheels are just a bit wider than their alloy predecessors at 25mm internal (30.6mm external), and now also get a bit deeper & more aero with a 30mm deep, uniquely asymmetric one-sided S-shaped profile.
These carbon rims are still hooked tubeless, using Campy’s 2Way-Fit bead that will work with any tubed or tubeless tire. The Momag carbon rim bed also has no spoke holes drilled into it which keeps it lighter and removes the need for tubeless rim tape. (The Momag name comes from the assembly method where nipples are guided into place through the valve hole to their spoke holes with a magnet.)
The carbon rim even uses molded-in spoke holes (not drilled) like Campy’s top-tier carbon road wheels for perfect spoke alignment and increased fiber strength. The new carbon rims also feature a straight out-of-the-mold matte carbon finish that is understated and durable, topped off with low-key gray & black water-transfer graphics.
At the heart of the new wheels are forged & machined centerlock (AFS) alloy hubs spinning on high-quality steel adjustable pre-load cup & cone bearings. The aluminum 12mm thru-axle hubs are compatible with Shimano HG, SRAM XD-R & Campagnolo N3W freehub bodies.
The 700c-only wheels are laced front & rear with 24 straightpull, double-butted round stainless spokes in a 2:1 pattern to balance spoke tension, with alloy nipples. Fulcrum claims a complete wheelset weight of 1490g (220g less than the alloy Rapid Red 5), and rates them for 120kg/265lb rider+bike+luggage system weight on gravel B-roads.

The new lighter, wider, faster Rapid Red Carbon gravel bike wheels are available now for $1975 / 1536€ with a Shimano freehub including tubeless valves. Campy compatibility adds $5/4€, or an extra $10/8€ for SRAM compatibility.
