The new Granite ChainDock Dummy Hub not only safeguards your rear triangle from compression during transport, if your soft bag gets stuck under a pile of luggage, it also makes chain cleaning and bike maintenance much easier.

And, yes, there are other chain rollers and such out there, but what makes this one unique is that it adjusts to fit almost any hub width.

It’s adjustable to match hub widths from 130mm–157mm, and it’s a universal fit for any bike using a 12mm thru axle because it doesn’t thread into the dropout…so you don’t need to worry about thread pitch. The ends simply rest in the dropout notches of the frame, then it expands from the center outward to match your hub’s width.

Once that’s set, use the lock nut to fix the width, and insert your thru axle to keep it there during transit or cleaning. It prevents the rear stays from getting crushed inward, something your thru axle alone can’t really do since it slides in/out of the non-drive side.

It also makes it really easy to clean or lube your chain, or just keep it from dangling about while cleaning your frame.

It’s also compatible with QR skewers and frames with the included adapters. Comes in black only, MSRP is $28.99

Granite Designs Suture Tire Plugger Kits

Granite’s new Suture Tire Plug kit comes in a slender CNC-machined alloy tube that holds the plugs, fork, and reamer conveniently inside it.

The plug insertion fork is integrated into the tool housing end cap, just unthread it, flip it around, and thread it back in with the prongs facing outward to turn the body into a handle.

Go for the Suture Aero model and that end doubles as a CO2 chuck, letting you plug then quickly fill your tire with the same tool.

A slot on the other end of the tube works as a Presta valve core removal tool. Watch them in action here:

The Suture comes in black or orange and weighs 24g, MSRP is $15.99 and includes 5 plugs in each of two sizes (1.5mm and 3.5mm).

The Suture Aero weighs 33g, costs $26.99, and also comes with plugs. Both are available now direct from Granite Design and on Amazon.

Sharp item. …I’ve seen a hack in which a mechanic threads the thru axle through an empy tape ‘wheel’, (like the one that has ‘walls’ that comes with teflon tape), and threads it into the frame to then use the tape wheel as a chain holder for cleaning and lite transport purposes.
