While not specifically for cycling, GRIP6 belts caught our eye because of the carbon fiber and titanium buckles and unique low-profile design. The non-stretch belts and unique slide-in system mean they’re able to fit anyone perfectly, too.
We first spotted these at Sea Otter Classic in 2021, and now having worn one for a few months, I’m digging it enough to share here. I rarely wear a belt while cycling, but I pretty much always wear one when riding casually because, well, pretty much all of my shorts and pants need me to. But, I do have a few MTB baggies that benefit from the assist and these work great there, too.
The buckles are made from a solid piece of 6061 T6 aluminum, 100% carbon fiber, or 6AL 4V titanium. The metal buckles are laser cut, and all have a slight curve to them follow the contour of your waist. Alloy models are hard anodized to further protect them, which may seem like overkill for a belt, but everything they make has a lifetime warranty.
The belt is a durable 6,6 nylon webbing and comes in lengths to fit waist sizes from 28 to 50 with infinite adjustability. The lack of notches or holes means you can make it fit as loose or tight as you want. And should you harbor escape or rescue fantasies like I do, they hold up to 2,400 pounds (1,100kg)
The strap slides in over the top of the loop, then slides under the rest of the belt for a clean, balanced look…no dangling strap off to one side. It sounds weird, but it works, and it doesn’t slide loose. They offer standard, slim, and children’s sizes belts and buckles, with retail prices from $29 to $90, and custom etched options are available, too.
They’re made in Salt Lake City, UT, from materials that are 100% sourced from the U.S. They also make a minimalist aluminum wallet, and offer Merino Wool socks with wool sourced from the Rocky Mountains.
