We caught a quick glimpse at the latest technology from HED while at NAHBS, but now it’s official. Fat biking will never be the same with HED’s new performance Skin Suit. Crafted from the finest organic yaks’ wool and interwoven with a proprietary blend of technical fibers for an extremely high vapor exchange rate, the Skin Suit will shelter you from the elements while keeping you warm. Additionally, the fabric includes a percentage of lycra so the suit will stretch with your body as you put on your own insulating layer over winter.
Shown in early prototype form, future versions of the Fat Bike Skin Suit will include provisions for flasks and thermoses full of hot beverages, and integration with Pearl Izumi’s new Fat Bike Bandolier. Available only in colors with a high contrast against the snow for easy location if you happen to fall off the groomed trail, pricing and availability is TBD.
