It’s been just over a year since QBP launched Heller bikes, and they’re still all about value. A lot of that value is derived from starting with a catalog carbon frame, which is then bolstered by a warranty and support from a big company like QBP. Add in a well thought out spec, and you’re left with a high performance bike with a fairly small price tag.
The 2018 Shagamaw is no different, starting with a full carbon frame with internal cable routing, the ability to run a Sideswing front derailleur and internal dropper post.
Taller riders will be pleased to hear there’s now an XL size…
…and and most any size rider will like that they use a threaded bottom bracket.
Boost 148 x 12mm spacing provides room for the 27.5 x 2.8″ Maxxis Rekon + tires, but there’s probably enough room in the frame to run 3.0″ if you wanted to size up. The tires roll on Sun Ringle Duroc 40 tubeless compatible rims.
Fitted with a 130mm travel RockShox Revelation RC fork, the frame can run up to 140mm of travel. Other details include SRAM Level brakes, a Race Face Aeffect crank with 30t narrow wide chainring, and a SRAM NX/GX 1×11 drivetrain with a Sunrace 11-42 cassette. In spite of all the upgrades, the Shagamaw is still $2599, and has a claimed weight of 27lbs 3oz for the large set up tubeless.
There is also going to be the addition of an XL frame size, though Heller hasn’t updated the geometry chart yet to reflect that.
