George Hincapie is back in the pro peloton (sota), this time, he’s calling the shots, and the feelings are mixed, at least on this end. The “Loyal Lieutenant” is bringing his knowledge, support, and influence to the pointy end of the Domestic and International racing with an all-new team – Modern Adventure Pro Cycling.

Introducing Modern Adventure Pro Cycling, a new US-based professional team founded by former WorldTour rider George Hincapie. With eyes locked on the 2032 Tour de France.

Who is George Hincapie?
The younger generation may not be familiar with George Hincapie, but for older (sorry) fans, he’s a household name in cycling. Cliff Notes version: Hincapie spent nearly two decades in the pro ranks, riding 17 Tours de France. He was a “Loyal Lieutenant” (the title of his book) for Lance Armstrong across all of his (now stripped) Tour wins, and has since admitted to doping during his career. While his past is complicated, his current goal is ambitious—to build a team that reignites American road racing.

Big Vision, Bigger Goals
Modern Adventure Pro Cycling isn’t starting with baby steps. Hicappie already had a smaller devo-team (and clothing company, and Fondo), so he knows the game. The new team plans to register as a UCI ProTeam by 2026 and aim to secure a spot on the WorldTour by 2032. That means Grand Tours, Monuments, and yes, the big show in July are all on the table.
“Our goal is clear,” Hincapie said. “We want to be the team that gets U.S. fans excited again. Racing fearlessly. Competing at the highest level. And doing it the right way.”

Talent Pipeline + Global Calendar
The squad plans to focus heavily on US talent—young hitters, seasoned pros, and everyone in between—sprinkled with select international riders. They’ll race in marquee events across Europe and South America to sharpen tactics and build experience.
Factor Bikes and Black Inc. are on board, and Rob Gitelis sees the team as a perfect proving ground: “The U.S. racing scene is overdue for a reboot, and Modern Adventure is in a great position to do just that.”
The Feed is fueling the team with a personalized nutrition platform, while title sponsor Modern Adventure is weaving its own ethos of purpose and exploration into the mix. Luis Vargas, the brand’s founder, called it “an invitation to fans to join us on day one.”

Culture > Hype
According to GM Rich Hincapie, this isn’t just about getting race wins. “We’re building something that matters. Something that reflects the best of who we are as riders and people. Our culture will be built on teamwork, resilience, and pride.”
How does USA Cycling feel about this? They are 100% onboard. President Brendan Quirk called the team launch “exactly what our sport needs right now.”
So yes, this might feel like a throwback to US Postal-level ambition, but Modern Adventure is putting its chips on development, transparency, and authenticity—all while aiming for yellow.
