H.S. GUIDANCE COUNSELORS TOURING COLLEGES BY BIKE

In an effort to familiarize themselves with Universities, a few high school guidance counselors from across the country are touring more than a dozen colleges in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware in a 12 day, 400 mile bike ride.

With some days covering 60 miles, this tour is not for the faint of heart. There are, however, daily ice-cream stops and lunches at fast-food restaurants. Nights were spent in dorm rooms of the very colleges they were touring, with dinners in the cafeterias.

As reported in the NYTimes blog: The Choice, this unofficial “Tour d’Admission” has become an annual event for Taylor Smith, the ride’s founder. Taylor and his wife started touring a few years ago in an effort to combine his love of cycling with a desire to visit colleges over the summer break.
