The new Mason x Hunt Search 29 Dynamo Disc wheels lace Hunt’s latest Trail Wide alloy mountain bike rims into a wheelset ready for adventure riding far from home. But that’s not all, Hunt have also put a dynamo into a 30mm deep carbon wheelset for gravel adventuring too!

Hunt has worked together with Mason Progressive Cycles since their very first wheelset, and as both companies evolve and expand their lineups, so do the collaborations. The latest Search 29 Dynamo wheels were developed specifically for the extended bikepacking adventures of Mason’s new ISO, but plenty more riders can benefit from a continuous power supply on their mountain bike adventures.
The Mason x Hunt Search 29 Dynamo Disc wheels start out with the 30mm wide internal 6069 alloy rims that Hunt developed for their Trail Wide mountain bike wheels. Then they lace in a unique Boost 15mm thru-axle version of the SON 28 dynamo hub – outputting 3W at 6v around 18-19kmh.
The result is a high-volume mountain bike tire wheelset (for up to 3″ wide tires) that can power your lights or electronics on far-flung adventures. The wheelset ticks up to 2165g for the pair laced 3x with 32 triple butted Pillar PSR spokes and brass nipples.

Hunt 30 Carbon Dynamo Disc gravel bikepacking adventure wheels
Created first for ultra-distance riders like Hunt’s own Josh Ibbett, the Hunt 30 Carbon Dynamo Disc gravel wheels combine the endless power supply of a premium dynamo hub with the lightweight, low-profile aero & comfort advantages of Hunt’s 30 Carbon Gravel tubeless rims.
They aren’t only for Type 2 fun riders like Josh who needs to keep his GPS & phone charged, but also for more normal (sorry, not sorry Josh!) riders who want the convenience of dynamo powered lighting & electronics for commuting, training, weekend bikepacking, or simply racking up dark winter base miles.
The £1059 30 Carbon Dynamo Disc wheels feature all of the benefits of Hunt’s Super Dura Dynamo Disc wheels, but more aero and more than 300g lighter at 1618g for the pair. The 30mm deep blunt-nosed T24/30 carbon rims are 21mm inside (27mm external) and pair up best with 25-45mm tires. The wheels are laced up to a SONdelux 12mm front dynamo and a Hunt 4 Season Disc rear with 28, 2x J-bend Pillar PSR butted aero spokes.
