Adding to Vision’s rapidly expanding Metron wheel line, the company had a new disc brake version of their 40mm wheel on hand at Interbike. Boasting a full carbon tubular or clincher rim profile, the wheels were seen on a number of bikes from gravel rigs to cross bikes. At 24mm wide, the Metron 40s look like an awesome wheel for the coming cross season.
More including weight after the break…
While Ben Berden’s bike above is equipped with the red color scheme, the 40s are also available in a much more subdued black as seen on this beautiful Sage Cycle.
In what seems to be a trend among wheel manufacturers, while the rest of the Metron line uses straight pull spokes, the disc models use more traditional J bend hubs. The CNCd aluminum hubs feature 2 front and 4 rear sealed bearings with an 11 speed free hub for Campy or Shimano. Rear hub spacing is limited to 135mm.
The wheels see 24 front 2x bladed, double butted spokes and 28 3x on the rear. The spokes are laced to the rim with special self locking niples and the wheels are built by hand.
Both sets of wheels will retail for $2,499 with weight at 1575g for the tubulars and 1775g for the clinchers.
