Known best for TT bikes, British brand Boardman had a prototype endurance road frame on display at Interbike. It features road specific geometry, disc brakes, clearance for up to 30 mm tires, and a stunning metallic paint finish. Get past the glare and roll on down for more details…
The bike was rolling on prototype carbon wheels. They’re still a ways out from production but the rims were 38mm deep with a 24mm inside width. Paired with hubs designed in house, we’re told the wheelset weighs sub 1,600 g.
The bike features thru axles front and rear, although the rear dropouts can be converted to a QR.
Even with 28mm Schwalbe tires, there was still plenty of breathing room.
Also on display at the booth was a customer’s custom painted Air 9.8 TT bike honoring the Petronas F1 Mercedes Team.
