After dorkin’ around for way too long trying to get EDGE/ENVE to put the originally spec’d custom carbon rims into production, Industry Nine had to look elsewhere. They’re not knocking ENVE, but eventually the time and cost of developing a custom rim there combined with ENVE’s booked production capacity to just fill their own orders, I9 decided to switch to stock Reynolds rims.
The resulting new wheels are the i35, i45 and i65, with the numbers corresponding to the rim depth. All three are available in both clincher and tubular, weights are:
i35 – 1000g tubular / 1250g clincher
i45 – 1120g / 1350g
i65 – 1300g / 1550g (estimated)
Tubulars are all $2,500 and clinchers are $2,650. Available now.
But wait, there’s more! They’ve got a new superlight road tubeless wheelset, blacked out hubs and spokes and a white rim option on the i30 alloy road wheels! Click ‘more’ to see it all…
They use the same road hubs as their alloy i30 and i25 wheels that have been out for about a year.
The i30 comes with white (shown), black or polished rims, which are a 450g 19mm-wide Kin Lin rim. For those not concerned with an aero shape, the the i25 uses a 450g 23mm-wide HED C2 rim. Same weight between the two for the pair, but the i25 benefits from the wider rim. Prices are $950 (i30) and $1,100 (i25).
There’s also a new i25 SL (not shown) that uses Stan’s Alpha 340 rim and weighs in at 1250g for a road tubeless wheel set, but there’s a 170lb rider weight limit. $1,200.
New Black-i (black eye) double black color scheme available for the mountain bike hubs with logos that are etched before anodizing so they’re black, too. It’s a $100 upcharge, same as their custom color option.
