Rapha is starting the new year off a bit more bright colors to help make it through a dark northern winter. Taking inspiration from Australia where pro road racing has gotten underway in the past couple of weeks, Rapha has a new women’s Ode to the Sun collection, plus a collaboration project together with classic patterns from Herman Miller.

Ode to the Sun women’s collection

Tiffany Cromwell of the Canyon//SRAM women’s pro team is a native of Adelaide. And she brought to European racing and the longstanding partnership with Rapha her memories of sunrise training rides in Australia. So inspired by Cromwell’s setting off in the rising sun, Rapha developed the Ode to the Sun collection, with its color-burning sunrise gradient, transitioning from dark navy blue to a warm orange.

Rapha took it beyond the recent fashion of fades to include a pattern taking inspiration from a geometric Japanese Asanoha woodblock print. The hemp plant leaf based design shows up subtly from head to toe, popping out a bit more in the contrast color socks.

The Ode to the Sun collection is all warm weather kit with its Adelaide morning group ride inspiration. It consists of a $175/150€/A$220 Souplesse Flyweight jersey and matching $235/200€/A$295 Flyweight bibs, plus a dark $65/55€/A$80 open mesh baselayer, the $70/60€/A$90 medium support bra, socks and two cap variants.

Rapha + Herman Miller – Five regions of South Australia caps

The latest Herman Miller collection is a limited edition series of cotton caps pulling colorful patterns out of the extensive design archives of the textile giant. Drawing inspiration from the landscapes of five regions of South Australia, Herman Miller’s archivist & Rapha selected designs that seemed to match the tones & character of the area.

The results are five completely different looks for the arid plains of the Flinders Ranges, Kangaroo Island, the Limestone Coast, Barossa Valley, and the wide streets & squares of Adelaide. Each is a simple 30€ one size, all cotton cap, ranging from bright colors to muted classic patterns. Get them now before they sell out online or in select Rapha Clubhouses.

If you are going to ride in an ultra-high-UV-exposure environment, you want long sleeves.
