Van Dessel had a couple of updates on some of their more popular models, and what stopped me at their booth was the Country Road Bob road/cross/single-speed bike shown above.  We’ve got a nice little video run down of this and their Gin & Trombone ‘cross bike after the break.  If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary to kick around town on or just out-style everyone at the cyclocross series, read “more”…

The complete bike is $999 and weighs about 21lbs as shown.  You could probably get it down under 18 with some really careful parts selection (and money).

Besides the removable cable guides, there are also mounting points for panniers, etc., making this a really versatile bike.

OK.  These things here on the bottom bracket shell, I have no idea what they’re for.  I think their rep told me, but I can’t remember.

Their Gin & Trombone has been updated slightly for 2009 with a tapered headtube to increase the strength of the steering section.

The rear end matches up the front with carbon seatstays to take some of the edge off.

those things there on the bottom bracket shell are set screws to hold the adjustment on the eccentric bottom bracket that bike comes with–it tensions the chain in absence of horizontal dropouts or some type of chain-tensioner.
