Brooks brought out a host of new colors for their most popular saddles, all of which will have matching perforated leather bar tape available, and they’ve got a new even-more-premium line of organic, vegetable tanned leather saddles for high mileage riders…and some new, slimmer leather lock-on grips for people that like the brand but think their other grips are too fat. And bags. Lots of new bags.
Starting with the rainbow pictured above, the B17 saddles get three news colors for North America only: Apple Green, Electric Blue and Mandarin Orange. New retail price is $115. In the foreground, the Colt adds Turquoise and Pink colors, which retail for $190.
Bar tape has been reduced to $70 and comes in new turquoise, mustard and violet along with the existing colors like black, green, brown and the yet to be shipped white that was introduced at NAHBS.
Slide past the break to see the rest…
Brook’s new Select line uses vegetable tanned leather from organically raised, 7 year old cows, which makes for a tougher leather because of the age of the leather and you can feel good that the cows were raised more humanely. They’re designed for high mileage cyclists, come with copper rivets and black hardware. Each saddle’s ID marks can actually be traced to the specific cow that it came from. Prices are $195 for each model except the Swallow (front, center), which is $250. They carry about a$30 to $95 premium over standard models, but they’ll last longer.
Their new Slender Grips, made for people that thought Brook’s original grips were too thick, are available in three colors and retail for $80/pair.
Lots of new bags. First up is the waxed canvas Islington Rucksack. It has a large main compartment with drawstring closure inside the fold over top, two front sleeve pockets, leather bottom and heavy duty carabiner clipped straps. MSRP is $380.
The Soho shoulder bag comes in black and honey (shown) and is a pretty minimal leather bag with a removable internal zipper pouch. MSRP is $370. I carry way more crap in my murse than this would ever hold, but I sooooo want one.
The Barbacan messenger/shoulder bag has a fold over top with shopping tote handles and a cover flap to make it act like a messenger bag. It has several internal pockets, uses the same waxed canvas as the Islington and has a leather bottom. MSRP is $335 for medium (shown) and $350 for large. It’s also available in leather in a minimalist style with removable small organizational pouch that snaps to the interior. It comes in black and brown and retails for $495.
The Hampstead Sport Holdall is a large duffel style bag that can convert to a bike bag (see backdrop photo) or backpack by moving the straps around, made easy by the large carabiner clips and loops. Waxed canvas with leather bottom. MSRP is $400.
These brushed aluminum carabiner clips are on several of their bags and look really, really nice in person.
